ARTIST Martha Gentry Neathery

Martha is an award winning artist who enjoys working in three media--oil, watercolor, and pastel; however, most of her work is done in oils.

Born in Cleburne, Texas, she and her family later moved to Seymour in West Texas where she graduated from high school. After graduation her family moved to Denison, Texas. Martha attended Southeastern University of Oklahoma in Durant; she received her BS degree in Business with a double minor in Art and Home Economics.

At Southeastern, she studied art with Miss Minnie Baker, a prominent Oklahoma artist. Since moving to the San Antonio area, Martha studied seven years at the Warren Hunter School of Art, and she has completed workshops with Lee K. Parkinson, Mary Hetherington, Janice Hindes, and Eunice Hundley.

Martha retired from Randolph Air Force Base in 1996 after a 36-year career as an Air Force secretary. She lives in Universal City with her husband Ken. Their married son David and his wife Cecilia live in San Antonio.
