River Art Festival, La Villita, October 7-8, 2006

ARTIST Janette Erwin Hastings

Bold and beautiful colors and energetic strokes come from being a "lefty" raised in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Many of her paintings reflect her love of the scenic countryside and her childhood summers spent at Camp Mystic in Ingram, Texas.

Janette graduated from the University of Texas in Austin where she majored in Art and Art Education. While in college, she taught art to children. She had many wonderful instructors to include Kielly Fearing, Michael Frary, Ralph White, and Al Nichols.

During the 1960's, Janette taught kindergarten for the US Army in Germany. Much of the beauty, wonderment, and splendor of the people, the country and the villages of Bavaria can be seen in her paintings of the area. While there, she studied from German painter Herr Ueschel.

Janette belongs to and shows work at the River Art Group Gallery, New Braunfels Art League and the Seguin Art League.
