River Art Festival, La Villita, October 7-8, 2006

ARTIST Carole Hartman-King

Carole has been drawing and painting since early childhood. She has taken classes in Design, Drawing, and Painting over a period of many years; she has also studied with a number of noted artists in the States and Japan during her travels with the Air Force.

After settling in San Antonio in 1974 with husband Roy of 47 years, Carole discovered a love for watercolor and what can happen with experiments on paper. She works from her own photos and sketches; her goal is to capture the essence or spirit of the subject rather than a photographic likeness.

Carole has won numerous awards. Noteworthy among them is her merit award for "Nature's Mystery." In fact, she won her very first award in a poster contest in the second grade. In addition to being a member of the River Art Group, Carole is also a member of the New Braunfels Art League and the San Antonio Watercolor Group.
