| Growing up in San
Antonio, Arlene longed to be able to paint and draw the scenes
she saw throughout her childhood--her grandmother's farm, the
Texas Hill Country, and the Gulf Coast. The opportunity to study
oil painting came in the mid-1960's when a local store offered
oil painting classes. Thence, she began painting the local and
Hill Country scenes. When Arlene's husband was later transferred
to Corpus Christi on the Gulf Coast, her interests in beach
scenery became her main focus, then her occupation.
Once Arlene began to work with local art galleries and exhibited
in art shows, she found the demand for her work exceeded her
ability to supply it. The desire to meet that demand took her
into the world of Limited Edition prints; fourteen were finally
in print. Seven are now sold out; but the other seven are still
available. Her original oils on canvas are sold through art
galleries and through personal contact.
