Mission San Jose y San Miguel de Aguayo, "Queen of the Missions," was founded in 1720 by Franciscan Father Antonio Margil de Jesus.

Mission Nuestra Senora de la Purisima Concepcion de Acuna was founded in 1731.   It is the oldest unrestored stone chuch in the United States.

Mission San Francisco de la Espada was founded in 1731.   Mission Espada has the oldest water system still in use in the United States.   The Espada brand for its ranch "Rancho de las Cabras" is the only brand that has been positively identified.

Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded in 1731.

Mission San Antonio de Valero had its beginning as a collection of crude huts on San Pedro Creek in 1718.   San Antonio's first mission was later moved to the east banks of the San Antonio River and is known today as "The Alamo".
